How Rosie Embraced Healthy Habits and Lost 40 Pounds

Meet #TeamPumpUp member Rosie @jillianmichaels. In the beginning of 2016, Rosie decided that she wanted to see real change in her motivation and fitness level. By committing just 30 minutes each day to breaking a sweat and making more informed food choices, Rosie lost 40 pounds in less than a year. Get to know more about Rosie's journey below!

Who are your top 3 favourite people to follow on PumpUp? What do you admire most about them?

@PumpUp, @Cowboy713, and @fitnessforlife85. I love the motivational quotes that they all post and seeing their results after working so hard to achieve that goal of fitness. They're very encouraging and kind people. 


What advice would you share with someone who’s looking to keep motivated?

Work out every day the first week, could be 30 minutes or over that span of time everyday. You'll see results with your stamina and energy if you keep it up. Once you start losing weight and seeing results, you're not going to want to stop until you reach your ultimate goal and maintain that goal. Look at people's before and after pictures, that could be you one day! Don't get discouraged either because even a small healthy step is a replacement to doing something unhealthy. Little goals matter so much. 


What’s a new, healthy habit you’re working on?

Getting through tough times with a positive mind no matter how hard life hits me. With a healthy mind comes a healthy and positive outlook on life. 


What's your favourite way to keep active?

Doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Workout everyday. It's only 30 minutes long and that's what keeps me motivated to do that workout everyday, plus seeing the results makes me happy. I also like to walk when it's warm outside or when I'm in the gym. 


What is a fitness or health goal that you're most proud of?

Getting myself dedicated to working out and loving it. Last year, I was so lazy and I hated to exercise so much, I despised it. One day I looked at my body and I was thinking to myself, "I have to stop being lazy and start working out" and starting from January 2016 up until this month of December 2016, I've lost an overall 40 pounds and gained back healthy muscle weight! 


What's your favourite thing about PumpUp? How has PumpUp helped you reach your fitness goals? 

My favorite thing about PumpUp is the community. The people on the app are very motivating and encouraging, it makes you feel so good inside. The posts that PumpUp displays motivates me to keep achieving my goals no matter how big or small they are. Seeing all those fit people with their before and after pictures helped me kick start my motivation to get up and workout everyday. 


What’s your post-workout fuel?

Water! Lots of water. I don't drink any protein drinks because I don't need that to do my type of workouts. 


What makes you feel the most confident?

knowing that I can show off my body's results without being embarrassed of myself.


What advice would you give to someone new to the PumpUp community?

Follow people who inspire and motivate you. Don't get discouraged when you see other people's results, just keep working on yours and focus on your own body, your own goals and soon enough you'll achieve those goals.
